Firstly, I’ve been satisfied by the consultations my dog Simba has had with Dr Ooi and Dr Tan. However, our whole family is rather upset with the visiting cardiologist from KL, who charged a lot for the consultation and ultrasound. That aside, she was fully informed of the heart medication prescribed in Europe for Simba (and agreed by other vets in Europe we had seen). She showed me her calculations for the heart for a dog of Simba’s weight and stage of heart disease. It was TRIPLE the dosage Simba’s been on. I was rather unnerved by it and said I wasn’t comfortable with that huge an sudden increase and would prefer to ease up gradually. She agreed that we would double the dosage then triple it after two weeks. When we did that, within two days, Simba became very listless and lethargic to the point when he couldn’t walk properly and couldn’t respond much to us. He stopped drinking and couldn’t really move. We thought he wouldn’t make it through the night. My son coaxed him to drink a bit from the palm of my hand. The next morning I brought him in for fluid therapy as he was severely dehydrated. Dr Tan agreed the TRIPLE dose was too much for such a little dog and adviced us to cut back. Simba has since recovered. That is shocking. What kind of cardiologist are you!? Never again!
